In more mature markets, modest advances will be prompted by a mandated shift toward higher value formulations. Food and beverage processing will remain the largest and fastest growing outlet for preservatives.

This study analyzes the $5.3 billion world biocides industry. It presents historical demand data for 1994, 1999 and 2004 and forecasts to 2009 and 2014 by product (e.g., halogen compounds, organosulfurs, nitrogen compounds, metallic compounds, organic acids); market (e.g., preservatives, water treatment, disinfectants and industrial processing); by world region and for 22 countries.

The study also considers market environment indicators, evaluates company market share and profiles major producers including Arch Chemicals, Rohm and Haas, Dow Chemical, Lonza, LANXESS, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and Occidental Chemical.
