Definition

The tobacco market covers all legal sales of cigarettes and excludes sales of loose tobacco. The market volume is calculated according to numbers of cigarettes sold. The market value is calculated according to retail selling price (RSP) and includes all taxes and levies. All currency conversions in the report are calculated at 2005 annual average exchange rates.

For the purposes of this report Europe consists of Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Asia-Pacific consists of Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.
