Enterprise applications stand out as having the highest number of investments: around 50% of the surveyed enterprises are planning to invest in both the short and medium term. The penetration of enterprise applications is already high and many of these investments will be upgrades to existing software or an expansion of software portfolios. ERP and document management are of interest for both old and new investors as these two technologies will be receiving some of the highest volumes of investments. Document management is the most highly penetrated content management solution and is becoming increasingly popular due to the digitization of the workplace as well as data proliferation. Over a third of the respondents are investing in enterprise applications as their largest IT deployment in 2007. Among enterprises' other priorities are IT systems management and security: 70% of enterprises chose one of these three technologies as their largest project. These technologies are highly important for running a successful business.
