Espicom's generics company reports will help you to understand the dynamic and complex issues affecting the business of leading generic industry players. These informative reports provide an insight into the company, covering the structure of the business, the most recent quarterly and annual financial results, information on the company's active product lines and ANDA approvals, along with a review of major developments, such as M&A activity, strategic alliances, and litigation. Stada Arzneimittel is one of the two major independent German generic manufacturers, along with ratiopharm. Sales in 2005 broke the one billion euro barrier for the first time, and rose to 1,245.1 million euros in 2006. Around 73% of sales were of unbranded generics, with the bulk of the remainder being branded generic products.
Germany accounts for around 40% of Stada's sales. Production is undertaken at Bad Vilbel, Germany, and in Clonmel, Ireland. Other important European markets for Stada are Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, the UK, Russia, and most recently, Serbia.
Stada is one of Europe's more acquisitive generic companies. It completed its purchase of Hemofarm, a leading Serbian generic drug manufacturer, in August 2006. This follows the purchase of Nizhpharm, a major Russian manufacturer, in 2005. The company's most recent purchase is Makiz, another Russian firm, which Stada acquired in August 2007.
The USA is not an important market for Stada at the moment. Less than 4% of sales were generated in the USA in 2005, and this dropped to 2.3% in the first half of 2006. In July 2006, the company announced the sale of its US business to DAVA, effectively exiting the market.
Stada is working on a number of biosimilar products, through an agreement with Bioceuticals Arzneimittlel AG. The company is aiming to bring the first of these products to market in 2007. An application for EPO was submitted to the EMEA in July 2006.
