Elekta AB, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, offers clinical solutions and services for the radiation treatment of cancer and the minimally-invasive treatment of brain disorders, including tumours, vascular disorders and functional disorders such as facial pain, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease. In fiscal 2005, Elekta's revenue rose by 9% to SKr 3.2 billion.

Elekta operates within two business areas, oncology and neurosurgery. The company's main business is oncology, sales of which increased by 16% to SKr 2.2 billion in 2005. Elekta claims to be the world's second-largest supplier of oncology products after Varian Medical Systems. It offers linear accelerators, simulators, stereotactic radiotherapy equipment, 3D dose planning systems and products for intensity-modulated radiation treatment. In April 2005, Elekta acquired Impac Medical Systems, enabling Elekta to also offer a range of medical IT systems for use in cancer care, including integrated solutions centred on image-enabled electronic medical records covering the cancer treatment process.

Elekta claims to be the market leader for devices for the radiosurgical treatment of brain disorders as a result of its Leksell Gamma Knife technology. The company's neurosurgery products also include the magnetoencephalography devices gained through the 2003 acquisition of Neuromag. In 2005, neurosurgery sales declined by 5% to SKr 977 million.
