Nokia remained in the lead of worldwide distribution, with Motorola holding a strong second place; Samsung finishing third this quarter; Sony Ericsson holding fourth place; and LG Electronics rounding out the top five handset manufacturers. A summary of all new phones released during 4Q06 is also included in this report. - Smartphone growth continues, especially in Europe. Symbian continues to lead the smartphone operating system arena with more than 70% of market share. - A majority of all handsets shipped in 4Q06 were based on demand from India and Latin America. - Asia/Pacific has accounted for 49% of mobile device shipments for all three quarters in 2006. - Shipments of camera phones represented 48% of all mobile device shipments in 2006.
