Although it has been offering HDTV service for two years, the service industry's progress in persuading consumers to adopt HDTV has been slow—only a quarter of a million consumers had subscribed to HDTV service by 2006. This number is expected to grow to over two million by 2011.

By contrast, HDTV consumer electronics sales have skyrocketed, driven by powerful market demand—4.75 million HDTV sets were shipped in 2006, and shipments of 19.7 million are expected by 2011.

This report covers the service and consumer electronics market in China's HDTV industry. A consumer survey result obtained in April 2007 is used to analyze the market demand for both service and CE equipment.

This report is the first of a series of reports covering the Chinese HDTV market.
