2006 witnessed some significant changes in the ways food manufacturers and fast food restaurant owners were able to advertise their products to young people. In response, many manufacturers have introduced communications strategies with a focus on health and changed their product offerings.
This report will focus on the impact these changes are having on the diet of young people in Britain today. Are they hearing and reacting to the government’s health message? Topics covered include awareness of what is a healthy diet, perceptions of junk food, food labelling and what it means and involvement in, and opinions on, exercise.
The report includes the following information:
Level of knowledge of healthy eating and exercise
Where young people get their information on healthy eating
What they eat and how this has changed
If they can tell the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods
How much exercise they do
