In 2006, China's gross newspaper ad value reached RMB 77.8 billion, up 8.61% year-on-year and, the net increase was about RMB 6.2 billion.

In 2006, the gross volume of newspaper ad in top 10 cities accounted for nearly 50% of China's total. Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou were still China's three major newspaper ad centers, of which Beijing grew slowly, Shanghai maintained rapid growth in recent years and Guangzhou rebounded after the declining in 2005.

In terms of newspaper ad, after declining in 2005, Guangzhou Daily has reined in the declining tendency, and increased slightly. Shanghai Morning Post, Nanfang City News--Guangzhou Edition and Jinghua Times developed rapidly in 2006. Besides, the downtrend of Beijing Youth Daily and Beijing Evening News is gradually slowing down, and the resuscitative trend has emerged.
