Telsyte has completed a short study that examines the movement in ADSL service prices and the broadband industry structure over the last 12 months, since Telstra's restructured wholesale prices triggered a price war and regulatory intervention.
The Research Note: Australian Broadband Price Wars — The Impact on ADSL Services One Year Later, updates the findings of Telsyte's May 2004 publication, Australian Broadband Price Wars. The new study reveals that although there are continuing price reductions for some services, the price trends are not consistent across all service types.
When excess download fees are taken into account, some retail customers may in fact be paying more for their consumer broadband services than before February 2004.
This Research Note is based on Telsyte primary price research conducted for its Broadband Internet Service Pricing Study, February 2004; ADSL Pricing Study, May 2004; and ADSL Pricing Study, May 2005.
